PRODUCER'S DETAILS
Carlos Estrella is a native of the municipality of La Unión but lives in the village of Buenos
Aires, in the north of the department of Nariño. Carlos is the third generation of coffee
growers in his family; his grandparents shared their knowledge with the new generations,
conserving the tradition of cultivating and harvesting coffee beans, which defines the
identity and tradition of the family business. Carlos started with the coffee farming activity
in 2006 with the planting of varieties, years later, in 2012 in the search for innovation and
new market trends he started with the planting of varieties that were not very well known at the time in the region.
FARM'S DETAILS
La Estrella farm is located in the Buenos Aires village, at an average altitude of 2200 meters
above sea level. It has a total area of 9 hectares, with approximately 20,000 coffee plants.
Here are planted varieties such as caturra, colombia, geisha, pink bourbon and laurina.
LOCATION`S DETAILS
La Estrella farm is located in the municipality of San Pedro de Cartago (1°33′05″N
77°07′08″O), in the village of Buenos Aires, at an average altitude of 2100 meters above sea level. In Cartago, summers are short and hot; winters are short and comfortable and it is oppressive, wet and cloudy throughout the year. During the course of the year, the
temperature generally varies from 20 °C to 29 °C and rarely drops below 19 °C or rises above 31 °C.
OTHER DETAILS
The farm has participated in national and regional events, in 2020 it participated in the cup
of excellence, placing among the top 30 lots of the event, in 2023 it participated in a
regional contest of the cup of my Nariño and land of diversity where it took 2nd place with a lot of geisha variety and natural process and 3rd place with a lot of caturra variety and natural process, respectively.
