Santa Felisa Estate
is a world-class specialty coffee farm located in the Acatenango region of Guatemala. Established in 1904, the estate is currently managed by sibling duo Anabella and Antonio Meneses, representing the fourth generation of coffee producers. The farm is highly celebrated in the specialty coffee industry as a frequent Cup of Excellence (CoE) winner, renowned for its "precise agriculture" and avant-garde fermentation techniques.

🌍 Estate Overview
  • Location: Acatenango Valley, Chimaltenango, Guatemala.
  • Elevation: 1,520 to 1,900 meters above sea level.
  • Microclimate: Situated in a volcanic region, the farm benefits from sunny days and cool nights, driven by winds from the Sierra Madre mountains and the Pacific Ocean. This high diurnal temperature variation slows down the ripening of the cherries, concentrating sugars up to 18–23 Brix at harvest.

🔬 Precise Agriculture & Avant-Garde Fermentation
What sets Santa Felisa apart is its fusion of agronomic science and experimental processing, spearheaded by Anabella Meneses, who holds a strong background in agricultural sciences:
  • Exotic Varietals: The farm cultivates highly prized varieties including Geisha (Gesha), Pacamara, SL-28, Laurina, and rare Java lots.
  • Microbiota Fermentation: Rather than relying on commercial yeast blends, Anabella isolates and utilizes the farm’s native microbiota for precision inoculation.
  • World-Class Flavor Profiles: Their signature lots—such as the iconic African Geisha Natural—boast intricate layers of ripe stone fruit, winey acidity, and rich cacao. Their advanced experimental processes, including multi-tier stacking and lactic acid fermentation, consistently score exceptionally high globally.

🌱 Sustainability & Social Impact
Santa Felisa is deeply committed to environmental stewardship and supporting the indigenous community:
  • Regenerative Agroforestry: Coffee is strictly shade-grown under a diverse forest canopy to mimic natural forest ecosystems, preserving local water resources, soil health, and native wildlife.
  • Empowering Maya Communities: The meticulous hand-picking of cherries relies heavily on the expertise of local indigenous Maya women. The estate is dedicated to gender equity, fair labor practices, and community development.
Today, Santa Felisa bypasses traditional trade channels for its most exclusive micro-lots through its annual independent auction, the Santa Felisa Reserva Especial Auction, supplying elite roasters worldwide.
