PRODUCER'S DETAILS
The El Paraíso farm began to cultivate coffee in the last decade of the twentieth century. It
was one of the first to initiate the cultivation of coffee in the region of the municipality of
Buesaco with the plantation of varieties such as: caturra, geisha, pink bourbon. Since 2008 it
is owned by José Ignacio Gómez, second generation of coffee growers in his family, who
together with his father acquired the farm, which years before had been cultivated and
planted in coffee by his uncle, Mr. Franco Gómez.
FARM'S DETAILS
El Paraíso farm is located in the village of El Naranjal, about 20 minutes from the
municipality of Buesaco, Nariño. It has favorable climatic, topographic and access conditions
for coffee production. Located at the foot of a mountainous canyon and next to a rich water
source, it privileges its excellent presence of organic matter, luminosity and air currents.
The El Paraíso farm is located at an average altitude of 1850 m.a.s.l., has high luminosity
most of the year, in addition to being favored by the wind currents that ascend throughout
the canyon of the Juanambú River. Within the coffee growing calendar, the farm has its
highest production season during the months of May, June, July and part of August. There is
also an intermediate harvest season between the months of December and January.
LOCATION`S DETAILS
In terms of climatic conditions, the region has six months of summer and half of winter. This
condition benefits the excellent quality of the grain, as rainfall and light are evenly
distributed most of the time during the grain filling and harvesting season.
In Buesaco, summers are short, comfortable and cloudy and winters are short, cool and
mostly cloudy. During the course of the year, the temperature generally ranges from 12 °C to
23 °C and rarely drops below 11 °C or rises above 25 °C.
