Nicaragua El Cambalache, their honey Maracaturra won 2nd place of the Nicaragua COE in 2021, and 7th place of the Nicaragua COE in 2022.

 

El Cambalache is a small farm located in the community of El Cambalache, right on the border with Honduras, with a height of 1,350 to 1,500 meters above sea level, it is presented as our highest farm. Its area is 8 Mz, the varieties grown on this farm are Maracaturra on a larger scale, Caturra, Pacamara and a few Gesha plants. Its unique microclimate, soil, geographical location as main characteristics have allowed it to win 4 cup awards of excellence Nicaragua, including two presidential awards with coffees with more than 90 points in cup.

Productive Areas: 8 Mz (6.5 Mz Maracaturra, 0.5 Mz Caturra, 0.75 Mz Pacamara, 0.25 Mz Gesha)

Altitude: 1350-1500 masl

Maracaturra is a variety that comes from a mutation of a cross between a caturra and Maragogipe, the story says that this happened in Brazil. The variety was introduced to Nicaragua approximately 80 years ago, Nicaragua being the largest producer of Maracaturra and where the variety has best adapted.
